This naturally beautiful beach situated in the north-east of the island is known for its mesmerising waters. Turquoise in colour and reasonably shallow, the waters are made for paddling, swimming and relaxing. The seabed is sandy but peppered with rocks, so watch your step…
Aguas Blanca’s name refers to the pale color of its water, the result of the foam produced by the waves beating against the open shore, which is exposed to the east wind. When the wind picks up, these turquoise waters froth up into a layer of white foam and vigorously lap at the shore, making it the perfect place for adventurous body surfers. When the air is still, the clear waters are perfect for snorkelling, there are two little rocks about 30 metres away from shore as well as a little cove, which are perfect for the avid explorer.
The perfectly pale waters encompass a sweeping stretch of dark golden sand, spanning 300 metres long and 15 metres wide, backed by beautiful and striking high cliffs, textured with luscious greenery. As the sun beams down and bathes the beach in a golden light, the rugged and dramatic cliffs, which accompany the powder-soft, glistening soft sand and magically sparkling waters create a true Ibizan paradise.
It may be important to note that Aguas Blancas is one of just two officially named nudist beaches on the island. Ibiza’s ‘anything goes’ attitude does not go amiss here! Some visitors often cover themselves in the red mud, made from the dirt on the cliffs mixed with the salty water, said to be beneficial for the skin. Don’t worry if nudism and clay bathing isn't for you, this community of people can be found predominantly at the north end of the beach. Down to the south end, the beach is usually busier with European travellers and young couples who come to soak up the sun.
Aguas Blancas is a beautiful and romantic setting to watch the sun rise in the early hours of the morning. As the cliffs take hostage of the sun in the early evening, large dark shadows are cast on the sands and the temperature and brightness drops dramatically. So enjoying the natural beauty and heat of Aguas Blancas between early morning and mid-afternoon is recommended.
Other facilities include loungers and parasols, a lifeguard and a parking area with a small fee at the top of the cliff. Unfortunately, the beach's rocky surroundings make it difficult to get to, which means that disability access is not provided.
Two beach bars can be found on Aguas Blancas. Sitting waiting to refresh you at the south end, there is the popular Chiringuito who’s charming rustic atmosphere serves up delicious bocadillos and other snacks. The other beach bar is La Cima del Mar with a divine menu and beautifully refreshing drinks.
Situated between Es Figueral and Cala San Vicente on the north-east coastline, Aguas Blancas is just a 10 minute drive from San Carlos and a 20 minute drive from either San Antonio or Ibiza Town.
Reached only by car, follow the winding road from San Carlos up north to Cala San Vicente, turn right at the hand painted Aigües Blanques sign. Following the lane straight on, you come to the middle of the beach. Access the beach via the steep walkway and some steps.
