Sisters with Cala Bassa beach, Cala Conta is one of Ibiza‘s most famous sundown spots. With an astonishing landscape of luscious greenery, rustic rocky cliffs and soft golden sands, together with dazzling waters of blue and turquoise, Cala Conta plays host to elegant and graceful sunsets whereby the sun and the earth morphs into each other as the day says hello to the night.

Eclectic crowds of tourists and locals gather both on land and boats to witness the tranquil phenomenon and watch in awe as the sun dances on the water before the moon takes centre stage.

Stretching 800 metres long and 15-30 metres wide, the area of sand is a good size and the swimming waters are divine. The varied coastline makes the bay secluded. The little cove south to Cala Conta, hides a nudist beach, Cala Escondida (also known as Racó d'en Xic, meaning ‘small corner’ in Catalan), if you prefer to avoid tan lines.

Swimming in the open sea at Cala Conta is beautiful, the current can be strong in areas, so swimmers and snorkelers take care, although there are shallow areas for little ones, and lifeguards are usually on duty in summer months.

Cala Conta (Comte in Catalan) takes it’s name from the Count Nunò Sans, one of the Catalonian conquerors of Ibiza who used to own the part of the island starting in Cala Conta and reaching all the way to Cap Nono (Cap Nunó in Catalan) in San Antonio.

Facilities on the beach include loungers and parasols, lifeguards and public toilets/showers. Pedalos are available for rental across the beach if you're looking for something a little different. Disabled access is adequate and there is parking approximately 500m from the beach. However, do note that the beach can get crowded in high season.

Cala Conta is home to different restaurants, positioned along the bay. The backdrop and landscapes can be observed at their best at Sunset Ashram, a restaurant and bar serving delicious Mediterranean, Hindu and Sushi dishes and refreshing drinks amidst a light-hearted and bohemian atmosphere. It’s innovative design imitates the rocks on which it sits and is positioned in between the two beaches, meaning it has the most astonishing scenic views. Evenings at Sunset Ashram plays host to many DJs and performers accompanying the most sensational sunsets. Open until midnight, this venue is one of the most relaxing place and popular in the area. To the right of the bay is SIllla des Bosc, a restaurant celebrated for its seafood and rice dishes. The restaurant can be reached by foot, from the main beach. Ses Roques restaurant offers the flavours of the Mediterranean and Ibiza whilst, taking in views of the beach and terrace from a spacious and comfortable terrace. A wide range of culinary delights from seafood to summer salads await you. In the evenings Ses Roques creates a truly romantic setting with candle lights, starry skies wonderful Ibizan sunsets.

Cala Conta lies on the west coast of the island, just past Cala Bassa. It is approximately a 20 minute drive from Ibiza Town and just a 10 minute drive from San Antonio. Cala Conta can be reached by car or bus, caught from the San Antonio bus station and/or along the bay's road.

In the summer, there is the option of a ferry ride from San Antonio, which departs regularly from the harbour and stops at various hotels along the way.
